AARL Field Day 2024

ARRL Field Day is the most popular on-the-air event held annually in the US and Canada. On the fourth weekend of June, more than 35,000 radio amateurs gather with their clubs, groups or simply with friends to operate from remote locations.
2024 ARRL Field Day is June 22-23 - ARRL Field Day is always held on the 4th full weekend in June.

New to Field Day? START HERE!

Field Day is ham radio's open house. Every June, more than 40,000 hams throughout North America set up temporary transmitting stations in public places to demonstrate ham radio's science, skill and service to our communities and our nation. It combines public service, emergency preparedness, community outreach, and technical skills all in a single event. Field Day has been an annual event since 1933, and remains the most popular event in ham radio.

Objective

To contact as many stations as possible on the 160, 80, 40, 20, 15 and 10 Meter HF bands, as well as all bands 50 MHz and above, and to learn to operate in abnormal situations in less than optimal conditions. Field Day is open to all amateurs in the areas covered by the ARRL/RAC Field Organizations and countries within IARU Region 2. DX stations residing in other regions may be contacted for credit, but are not eligible to submit entries. Each claimed contact must include contemporaneous direct initiation by the operator on both sides of the contact. Initiation of a contact may be either locally or by remote. Any mode supporting the Field Day exchange is allowed.

Message from the Morongo Basin Amateur Radio Club's Vice-President Keith Board (N6GKB)

Welcome to Field Day 2024!

First I need to ask who were the one or two person(s) that purchased an end-fed antenna (MFJ??) a couple months ago at the club auction? I really need to see if we can use one of them for Field Day?? Also I am asking the club members for help on antenna choices that we should use. I am in need of some new ideas and wish to see who has what available to use. I do have a couple of longwires tuned for different bands and also a couple different kinds of vertical HF antennas and a horizonal 20 meter bazooka. So, any new ideas, please shoot me an email at n6gkb@live.com!!!

We will see what our food options are at the next club meeting and Kathie Edwards has volunteered to help on that aspect. Ideas at this point are greatly appreciated for each meal!

I shall be supplying laptops for each station that needs one for logging and we might have wifi available. The Yucca Mesa Community Center is extremely nice facility with A/C, plenty of room, clean restrooms and a kitchen. The outdoors has plenty of property for parking and antennas galore.

I am sending this first contact Field Day newsletter to all club members. If you are certain you want to be included on the distribution lists for of these newletters, please email or text me.

I would also like to know who plans on attending and who can help with setup on Friday afternoon and evening and then takedown on Sunday morning??

For those who plan on staying overnight, there are electrical hookups for your travel trailer if you wish.

We will have a talk in station using the Yucca Valley repeater.

We are entered on the ARRL Field Day Directory.

Any one willing to give ideas about anything involving Field Day, please contact me (Keith N6GKB) at (760) 401-5124 or n6gkb@live.com. I AM REALLY LOOKING FOR IDEAS TO CHANGE UP FROM THE LAST COUPLE YEARS THAT I HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN FIELD DAY. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INPUT!

I plan on putting out a newsletter for Field Day for now at least every other week in May, then every week in June OR more often if needed for any updates that might arise.
